We are pleased to announce that Jean Terhaar will be joining UTS as our Infection Protection and Control (IPAC) Nurse starting August 4, 2020. The IPAC Nurse position was created to support our efforts to ensure that we have the most rigorous health & safety protocols in place to maintain a safe learning and working environment throughout this challenging period.
Jean comes to UTS with 17 years of healthcare related experience with five years dedicated to infection control. She holds an Honours B.A. in Psychology, a B.Sc. in Nursing, and is working toward her M.A. in Counselling Psychology. Jean’s experience was gained primarily while at Hastings Prince Edward County Public Health, where she worked as a Public Health Nurse, and through her collaborations with Public Health Ontario and other agencies. She brings extensive knowledge and application of infection control best practices in a variety of settings, including education, as well as experience with research, report writing and policy development specific to infection control practices. She has provided infection control education through various modalities and to varied audiences, and participated in surveillance and case management, as well as program planning in accordance with mandated standards.
We are thrilled to welcome Jean to the UTS community and look forward to working with her on our health and safety protocols as well as the mental health initiatives that we will be working on this year.
